I think they must allow both since they only mention a "quadrat" in the textbook.
(Original post by Vet Student 2020)
Aww I didnt know there was such a thing! How would you distinguish between that and a gridless quadrat? I wonder would they allow both as you wouldnt be able to tell as a diagram

Yeah I did it, found it easy enough except the 3 mark resistor equation, everything else was fine

Got 1.57 refractive index
Got approximately 250g for mass for T=0.3s

How did you all find the physics practical paper today?

The chem practical is worth 6.25% of AS although it combines with the practical theory to form 20% of AS
(Original post by masjas2020)
Hey guys, how much is the chem practical worth?
also does anyone know the raw marks needed in chem to get a good A??

I got the same answers as you, give or take. I have a question, which way were you meant to set the block on the page? If I remember correctly, the diagram showed the block to be resting on the small side.

Yeah that confused me at first, I set it vertically upwards on the small side? Think it was right because I got a good refractive index value

I got 0.4 for acceleration somehow, I didn’t calculate 1/u + 1/v, don’t think you had to because you just need results that allow you to draw a graph

What did you do then? Also is it true that the object distance or image distance wasn’t equal to v or u..? I didn’t read the question lol

Position of object was at 100cm point, position of lens was at 50cm point so u was 50cm. Distance from 0cm mark to screen was like 21cm or something so v would be 29cm. My table had 4 extra columns for u, v, 1/u and 1/v with u + v in cm and 1/u + 1/v in cm-1

Completely missed that I’ll get 2/4 if I’m lucky for heading and units. What did you write for the different uncertainties for image and object?

For Pi i wrote +/-5mm (range over which a sharp image forms) and +/- 2mm for Po because u have to read from the ruler twice

Im scared especially as it is the first year of the new spec (my teachers say it is the worst the first year as they 'go to town'on new style qs) although that means grade boundaries will be a lot lower. How are you feeling? Is there anything you are unsure about and have you done mucb revision for it?
