Hello,

I am slightly stuck on what factionalism is and what was the ban on factions? I understand that a faction is a group that shares similar ideas but I thought that Lenin, but this point, had already established a one-party state so I don't really understand why the ban was needed?

Help!!

The ban on factionalism in 1921 was to deal with internal opposition within the party - basically anyone who thought different. Remember some opposed the NEP and Lenin was trying to stop that
