# Calculate the number of yeast cells per cm3

Does anybody know how to calulcate the total number of cells by converting chamber volume to cm^3? I've attached the question

I've tried doing Total Cell Count = Total number cell count x 100 (DF) x Volume of chamber)

ex. the first one has a total cell count of 9 so I did 9 x 100 x (4x10^6) = 3.6x10^9 but it doesn't seem right.

Shouldn't it be 4x10^-6 when converted to cm3 ?

Oh yes, I didn't realise that , makes much more sense now so that'd make it 1.44x10^-3. I'm not sure if you include (4x10^-6) in the caluclation or just do 3.6 x 100 x 10^-6 to get 3.6x10^-4

no worries..I'm trying to understand as well...shouldn't the dil. factor be 0.01 tho?

I did the calculation based on the method done by these two websites https://www.asbcnet.org/lab/getstart...ts/Yeast-4.pdf on page 2 and https://www.whitelabs.com/beer/cell-...bility-testing

They kept the dilution factor of 10 and 200 the same in the calculation so I didn't change it so I don't know if I should change the DF factor or not.

(I can't see your attachment btw)
