Hello :hello:

My name is Laura and I am a current student at De Montfort University, Leicester. I see that you are undecided on which university to choose and I wanted to see if I could help at all. I have some information related to your course that might be able to help you with your decision.

The Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Science (BSc Hons) offered at DMU is one of the few courses worldwide that combines both pharmaceutics with cosmetic science providing a unique balance between the chemistry and engineering components of pharmaceutical and cosmetic product design and manufacture. The course provides you with specialised and advanced knowledge, skills and techniques required for the design, formulation, manufacture, quality assurance, regulatory activities and marketing of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. You will be introduced to the principles behind the formulation of medicines and will progress to techniques behind their preparation, testing and packaging.

Additionally, 100% of the Summer 2017 graduates from this course are in work of further study after graduating (Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) 2016-17 report) which is above the sector average of 94.6%. Additionally, the Leicester School of Pharmacy (the School you will be a part of if you choose to study at DMU) has over 100 years' teaching experience and is renowned for academic expertise, development training and world-leading research. The School also has fantastic links with local, national and international industry so they can help you to gain work experience, placements or professional experiences in this field before and after you graduate! Additionally, DMU has been awarded the 'Gold Standard', the highest ranking possible in the TEF (Teaching Excellence Framework) which means that DMU delivers: "consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for its students. It is of the highest quality found in the UK" (judgement from the TEF panel). Students on this course have also had the opportunity to visit China on a #DMUglobal trip to visit a Chinese Pharmaceutical manufacturing company to observe global pharmaceutical manufacture in action.

The best way to discover if a university is right for you is to come and visit it on an Open Day. If you haven't already come and visited us then our next Open Day is on Saturday 6th July and you can book on to come here: https://www.dmu.ac.uk/study/undergra...g-webform.aspx. Visiting DMU on a Open Day is how I came to know that it was exactly the right place for me - I was completely blown away by the campus and all the facilities that DMU has available to aid the learning of all their students. I was so impressed by the number of extra-curricular opportunities they have available to students too! From volunteering to #DMUglobal (DMU's international experience programme which aims to enrich studies, broaden cultural horizons and to develop key skills valued by employers - these trips are subsidised too!), societies/sports teams to professional experiences in local, national and international industry - there really is so much going on here that can help you to boost your employability and have the best student experience possible.

If you have any more questions, such as what the student life is like here in Leicester or if you want to know more about the extra-curricular opportunities on offer at DMU, then please don not hesitate to give me a shout!

Take care!

Laura
