Instagram to find girls?

Honestly gonna say whats on my mind rn
im 18 and I've never had a gf because of my stupid anxiety and me being very self conscious with women and I also find it really hard to find my type of girls in person, so I'm thinking of making a new instagram and follow a whole bunch of random women then I'll DM them. All the girlfriends one of my friends had were all met through instagram, so I think its best if i do this too lol.
Might sound really ridiculous but opinions? And How do I make it less weird to message girls on insta? I'm open for any advice
