The overall order of the reaction is the summation of powers of the reactant orders, for example:

For a reaction A + B -> C

a reaction which is first order with respect to A and first order with respect to B will be second order
a reaction which is first order with respect to A and second order with respect to B will be third order
a reaction which is zero order with respect to A and first order with respect to B will be first order
