Do you think its an important factor in your choice of lifestyle? For example; you have the money to buy a nice bmw, but would you rather buy a ford focus and save the difference?

Not that important. A car is a car, if it gets me from A to B then that's good enough for me. Plus I'm not all that materialistic.

No I rely solely on energy drinks to keep me awake

For me, it is an important lifestyle choice. It's not because I would buy it as a status symbol, I just have a genuine interet and love for cars. It varies from person to person. You'll always get the people who use their cars just to flex on others.

(Btw, I'd never buy a brand new BMW. Rather buy a second hand E90 335i or E92 M3)

Fairly,

A lot of my time is spent in my car so it's worth the extra money.

Depend on what stage of life I'm at. If I was in my twenties I would stick to the focus but say 30's 40's I would choose the BMW

One that gets me from A -> B without breaking down is the most important with low repair costs.

A Ford Focus IS a nice car, assuming it's one of the new shape ones.
It's important to me to have a car that I'm somewhat proud to drive in and I feel is reliable. I don't need anything mega flash, like a I'm driving an 18 plate Golf and it looks great, the interior feels nice, it drives nicely and I have no fear of it breaking down on me. All this together means I enjoy driving it. My first car was a 2000 Peugeot 206 and I hated driving it as it was basically the opposite to all the above.

I'd like something decent, not too bothered about a big brand name like BMW - just a relatively new reliable car. I do like having new things but not bothered about the most expensive things.
