Breast reduction- undecided.

Hi

Well Ive been looking recently at the possibility of having a breast reduction. I know a lot of people are going to say try to loose weight as this may help, However Im 5 foot 9 and a size 8, so Im quite reluctant to loose weight as to be honest I think Id look to thin for my height.

Problem is, my mom is really against it. There is no way in hell she would pay for it, and if i had it done it would cause the biggest row.

I just I could something about them without the surgery. Bench pressing is not really going to make that much of a difference apart from lifting!

Has anyone here had any experiences of breast reduction and most importantly do you regret it? Also any opinions of what I should do would be helpful

If you are a size 8 the chances are that you probably don't need to loose weight and probably just naturally have larger breasts. If your breasts are causing you problems like back or neck pain then it is possible to have a breast reduction on the NHS and you could go and talk to your GP about it. However you may need parental consent for this is you are bellow 18. Another possibility would be just making sure that you have a well fitting supportive bra as this can make a huge difference so make sure that you get yourself measured. Maybe have a sit down and talk to your mum about why you feel that you want to have this reduction and try and find a comprimise e.g. you will try a well fitted supportive bra for a few months and then together you will re-evaluate the options if there is still a problem.

Breast reduction surgery if a serious operation and definitely something that you should put a lot of thought into before you have it done.

Thanks randdom thats really helpful advice.

Well, Im 20 but my mother and I have always been really close, I dont want to cause an argument about it because trust me she is really stubborn. And I can tell that there is no room for manoevour on this. She would kick off theres no doubt about it.

Obv, it may affect sensitivity well probably affect sensitivity. But what sort of pain can you expect i.e what duration? Also If in the future if I had kids would it affect the ability to breast feed?

the "lol NO" was to the suggestion of posting a picture
That's not that big, really... I'm pretty sure you wouldn't get that on the NHS, so you'd definitely have to fund it yourself.

Speaking as a male member of the species, I would say that you shouldn't depreciate your assets in such an irreversible manner.

what size are you?? if your chest size is disproportionate to your body (which it probably is cuz a 8 is quite slim) and you get back aches etc you could get it done free on the NHS, im getting mine done this July
5ft 9, 36DD, Size 8, 20 years old.

Hrm. My friend had a breast reduction, she was 5ft 6, 36E, 17 years old.

But that was because she was diagnosed with back problems by doctors at the local hospital. She's still got the scares (yes i've seen). And it hurt quite a bit after and she had alot of time off college. But is good, and never happier.

So i'm not sure what to advice.
As pointed out in "Superbad".

Getting a breast reduction, is like slapping God accross the face.

36 band, yet a size 8?

Don't take any type of surgery too lightly, it is a serious operation. I've heard breast surgery being likened to being hit by a car. But if you're totally sure it'd make you happy, then maybe for you it's worth it in the long run.

Yes. tbh, I have completely disproportionate figure. I used to swim competitively and it tends to change your shape. And so I have stupidly broad shoulders/back compared to the rest of me, and am rather like the shape of a carrot  ( or so Ive been told). I know you should appreciate what you have but it really makes you :frown: sometimes when you can never find clothes that fit. I cant imagine how girls who are bigger get on.

Yea that confused me too. Sure DD are 'big' but I'm a DD and it's not a problem, surely 36 suggest you have a pretty big rib cage for an 8?

Not wanting to be rude OP, I'm just trying to understand

Who agrees that it would make things a whole lot easier if we could see a pic?? Especially now the thread has seemed to attract a lot of males!! We could give our side of things..
