My life is ruined, discuss! (Joking)
Definitely will be using a VPN. Not a fan of age checks nor do I want my private information leaked.

Porn age verification to *** into force in July.

You’re information won’t be the only thing leaking.

Looks like I’ll be jacking off to peep show clips.

It's funny how people still don't know how age verification will actually work. Seemingly the BBFC has some vague idea of what it could look like. No system is currently in place for people to verify their age, outside of giving your credit card or passport details which clearly nobody will want to do.

All I can see happening is that teenagers, and probably adults too, will start using Reddit/Twitter for their porn instead of websites dedicated to it.

Isn’t the idea to stop children stumbling upon it? You don’t exactly stumble onto a porn site do you? Whereas you can easily do that on Twitter ,for example if you type in 3 perfectly innocent letters when looking for the news.

When I had MSN and an associated email account I got a junk email from Adult Network, my life was ruined from that day on.

I guess it acts as a further step in deterring the youth from viewing porn websites, the policy probably wasn't the most well thought out. It was an idea created but the implementation of it was thought out wayyyyyy later. The only issue is once they learn the power of a VPN, nothing's stopping the kids apart from if they get a computer virus from the websites.

I'll drink to that, I'll jack off to The IT Crowd in that case.

It won't work, like Article 13 won't. VPNs will be getting a lot of business in the future.

This. It's all well and good saying "we're introducing age checks" but the methodology is a joke. This is reflected in how they're just leaving it up to the platforms to choose, since I'm guessing the BBFC don't have the foggiest idea.

The 2 systems mentioned in the article are both silly. Mindgeek's system assumes people are willing to give porn sites a scan of their passport or driving license to begin with. I should hope people are not that silly. As for age verification cards (porn passes), no thought seems to have been given as to how the age of the person typing the code will be verified.

As someone studying Digital Forensics, verifying the person at the keyboard is difficult at the best of times. I don't for one second think the porn industry will magically come up with the solution.

what a stupid scheme xD
honestly more horny teens, oh lord !!

u18s will just find it easy to bypass it via proxy webs/ use twitter etcc
further, how are they meant to honestly verify it... *face palm*

I dont get how u cant watch porn until ur 18, but can be doing it at 16 as well....

I think they need to be concentrating on filtering out the weird stuff on the web rather than restricting all of it- thats if the gov really wants to make an impact anyhow

On the actual porn pass, will it be a sequence of letters and numbers? If it is, chances are I could just mash the keyboard and type randomly until I get a match.
