Nintendo apparently have decided that the trans flag violates their terms of service.

It's a pretty shocking stance to have in the 21st century.

how will humanity recover from this? what is life anymore? the world is ending!

Nintendo have taken it down because they do not want to set any political agenda not because they are transphobic.

Gaming is for online entertainment games only.
No room for real life politics, religion or conspiracy theories.
Nor creepy weirdos trying to get contact info/perve on younger games users.

That GamerGate idiocy against one female games developer followed by mass harassment of female gamers- still represents the perfect illustration of the consequences of combining gaming with a political agenda/conspiracy theories and makes clear what creeps will do if allowed half a chance.
Imagine how many from the gamergate crowd will not hesitate to subject any online gaming user with an activist flag they dislike to abuse.
Or wage full blown hate campaigns against members of the trans community or any vulnerable gamers they can identify.
Only answer is to keep politics & religion etc off the site and come down like a ton of brick on all abuse/criminality/harassment.
Nintendo have figured this out.

Whatever they do follows the commercial interest just as it should, with the world wide market where they sell their product dictating the strategy. There will be topics where business is better served by remaining neutral to cover the customer base, how well do these 'transgender flags' do in China or the Middle and Far East? It's like religion, were the entire world into it and Nintendo would have no problem with sprinkling religious artefacts about. As it is, it might be bad business in the West and it is commercially wise to just leave religion out of it altogether. What we have to remember is that businesses are not driven by morals, everything they do is what best serves their financial interest. So it will be in this case.

It's a corporation, they can promote whatever message they want. However, I expect this is probably a misrepresentation of the facts due to a certain group of people getting worked up over tiny things. What are the chances that this was part of a widespread policy of removing political or controversial statements (which have no need to be in a video game) from their games, from all political leanings and opinions? Very high is the answer to that.

Search up trans on the stage builder, loads still there. One mistake made because someone was reported perhaps by the person who made it for a stunt. Non story.

I interpretted this as a games company that makes fun fictional childrens games having no reason to incorperate trans symbols and so forth in their game.

I don't think they're saying it's wrong, more that their games are mostly aimed at children and that children do not understand nor need to understand sexuality, especially when they are just trying to play a game.

nobody wants a politically fuelled agenda from nintendo and I think they're right for avoiding it.

I don’t see why a tweet but some unknown constitutes news.

Slightly clickbaity title. One stage being taken down probably only reflects one individual's judgement.

Considering Nintendo was the first to feature a transgender character in a game (Birdo), I doubt they'd take such a stance.

Yeah Nintendo is a business at the end of the day. It might sound grim but adding signs of solidarity such as these may be seen to reduce the potential demographic for this product while not expanding it by very much. :console:

They're a Japanese company. Thankfully they don't give a damn about pop culture western oppression Olympics and they just let creators create.

They've rejected all political imagery not just the rainbow flag. You are asking for special considerations, they are saying no.

Nintendo keep it traditional, they haven't got time for controversial and divisive symbols that add nothing to their business (and by extension society as a whole)

Not everything needs a rainbow flag, nor a political agenda - let games be games...
