Omg yes finally someone else! I compared it to manhunt as well but no one else at my school did
(Original post by Lottielgreen)
Compared mine to The manhunt and said about how the wife in that is dealing with the loss mentally of her partner rather than physically, which is shown in a wife in London. Thought it went alright tbf but wasn’t expecting a war/loss poem to come up again.

I think I did relatively well, except my comparison was very weak and I could have explained it much more but there wasn't enough time.

same it was tricky to compare them about loss and not about war and love.. had to keep reminding myself those weren't the themes!!

And of course it's nothing like whatever everyone predicted. I'm just glad that I was in the pair making the poster for as imperceptibly as grief because I didn't remember any comparisons for any other poems.

I chose this as well because of the loss of power. Apparently it’s not it though haha

I compared it to The Manhunt but I didn't learn either poems so I analysed the poem there and then. I made up the context and talked about the Industrial Revolution but like an idiot I didn't know whether the poet was male or female so I referred to them as 'They'.

i banged on about ozymandias for comparison tbh! both dealt with loss that was uncontrollable and unexpected that couldn't be reversed, as well as that both poems used imagery to signify loss (e.g. the flickering lamp, foggy london in a wife and the lone, bare sands stretching far away as well as "nothing besides remains" in ozymandias), main point was that irony was present in both losses because the husband's letter arrived after his death, and ozymandias ultimately lost the power he was so confident about. the actual analysing of a wife was absolutely shambolic though, they really ****ed us over
