Do I need to know the first part of the period table and the reactivity series off by heart for the exam?

Thank you!

Reactivity series yes because it isn’t given, and it would be helpful to learn the periodic table but you don’t need to as that is given. Basically if you learn it you can recall it quicker than trying to look for it on the table xx

You should learn how reactive elements are in relation to if not they would be extracted from their ore by reduction by carbon , or by electrolysis. Eg Iron is extracted by reduction from carbon, but aluminium is more reactive than carbon, so it is extracted by electrolysis. With regards to the periodic table, no it’s given in the exam, but learn the symbols for common metals and non metals, eg sodium, magnesium, calcium, zinc, copper etc, as you won’t waste time trying to find them. Know how to make ions from them, eg group 7 gains an electron etc.
