The Holt Hall Loughborough

heyy! hopefully i will be studying sport science at loughborough sept 08. I have just appled for accommodation and really wanted 2 be in Bill Mo. Unfortunately I couldn't get a room in Bill Mo so now have a room in The Holt. I have heard loads of bad stuff about the Holt bein really snobby etc. Was just wonderin if anyone else will be in the Holt this year? and what it is really like? thanks!! x :smile:

Hey, i should be in the holt as well. I ve had second thoughts as well, only just realised post graduate students will also probably be in the halls. Oh well nothing i can do now.

Holt isn't that bad imo! Had a few mates in there, and I guess it's what you make of it! :smile:

i wana a room in the holt, but i get stuck in another hall now becoz there was no other choice, i phoned the sac and they put me into the waiting list
u can phone them to try if u reli wana get into bill mo

dont know much about the holt, but i was in bill mo this year and i am again next year, and it really is an amazing hall, try and get transfered!

ohhhhhh whats all this rubbish i hear about the holt! u'll be fine. i stayed in the holt for 2 years - last year and the year before and had an awesome time! not snobby at all! and theres loads of freshers this year - the postgrads only play a minor part in the hall and altho some of them wil be up for getting involved, the majority wil just keep themselves to themselves! theres some awesome people on the committee this coming year tho and i know theyv got loads planned for you in freshers week. message me if you want to know anything else...but i loved my time at the holt, it will be very weird not living there next year.

hope that helps to clear any worries. theres barely any difference between bill mo and the holt anyway, and the holt is quite convenient for town, tesco, campus etc

the holt is very far from anywhere though! look on a map and see where it is compared to other halls. I would personally nto want to have to walk back there after a night at the union, bill mo is a 1 minute walk form the union!

errrr can i just say though, (sticking up for the holt here!) the map is totally out of proportion. hav u just seen it on a map? or have you actually seen where the holt is? the map makes the holt look miles away, when actually its on the other side of the road to falk egg. you can walk to the union in 8 minutes absolute max! now thats hardly far away...and u can be on campus in 1 minute through ashleigh drive...library is also about a 10 minute walk and same for town and tesco. perfect if you ask me!
