Can someone tell me what a level history is like and the similarities and differences between a level and GSCE history Bcz I’m reconsidering -think I’m gonna choose history over classics but I want some more background info.

Honestly, they're very alike. The main differences are, I personally did 4 topics at GCSE and now only do 2 at A-Level. The exams are better in my opinion as well. You study a source/extract for one question and the next will be an essay based question like how far do you agree. It's very enjoyable if you like it at GCSE, you learn in much the same way and will have a bit of coursework too.

I do AQA, there are two topics we study:
One breadth study (over a longer period of time E.G Tudors 1485-1603)
One width study (over a shorter period of time but in more depth E.G Russia 1917-1953)
Essay questions are 25 marks and source questions are 30 marks at A2
Similar to GCSE but a lot more focused and analytical
