Can there be love between people of different body proportions?

...by which, for example, I mean slim guys with fat girls or fat guys with slim girls.

Don't you think this occurs pretty rarely?

I kind of see that it's more common that two partners often have same body-mass proportions....

EDIT: (to avoid misunderstandings)

By same proportion I mean: weight to height (I'm not sure whether this is the same as "body mass index")
That means: a tall and athletic person would have the same proportions as a short and athletic person.
But "tall and thin" + "short and fat" don't have the same proportions.

EDIT2: (On the beauty in the eye of the beholder)

According to many people attractiveness is relative, "in the eye of the beholder", etc. So I assume that they mean "also a fat guy can turn on a slim girl" - which is something I rarely see in reality though.

Could this "beauty in the eye of the beholder" phrase actually mean that if I'm fat, I'm more likely to attract other fat people, whereas if I'm slim, I'm more likely to attract other slim people?

I think it can happen, but i know there has been research into this and they have found that people are more likely to be attracted to someone with a similar or better (in their perception) body to themselves. I know some of the reasons from the research but it'd probably cause mass-flare up as people wouldnt agree etc.

My bf is skinny - I'm about as curvy as they come. We're happy, so yes, it can work.

I think different proportions in height are much more common and perhaps socially acceptable than different proportions in waist size etc. I know a few (insensitive) people who have said things like 'why is he with her, he could do so much better' because he was toned and she was on the chubby side. Stupid, but it happens.

Personally I could never go for a fat guy... all my boyfriends have been at least very slim and toned if not super skinny, and likewise I'm a pretty thin girl, I just wouldn't find a large guy attractive and can't understand how anyone could - its the biggest turn off possible... However obviously not everyone is like me, because I often see fat girls with thin guys.. can't understand it personally, if my boyfriend was really fat it would seem like I was putting effort into staying attractive for him and he wasn't bothering and was just sitting around eating loads of pies while I go to the gym and watch what I eat!

OK //rant. Sorry if I offended any larger people out there but its only my opinion!! :smile:

I think there can be. My physics teacher is quite slim and his wife is alot larger than him.

Also my ex(still mutally like each other) isn't slim like me so I hope there can be love between us!

That was one of the main reasons people on that piece of research i was talking about gave why they wouldnt date a larger person. I wish i could find that article again...grrr.

Of course there's a correlation - in time, we become more like the people we surround ourselves with. However, differential partnerships are certainly abundant too.

Let's make this more interesting:
