Mcq problem: mean molecular KE and PE Watch

Can someone please explain this?
I thought it should be B bcs after the solid's turned to liquid temperature increase so the internal energy increases so both should increase but the answer's C
Why?

Mean kinetic energy = 3/2 kT
When a solid is heated at its melting point, its temperature remains constant => kinetic energy is the same
Potential energy increased as bonds were broken
