I’m doing Btec level 3 business enterprise and creative digital media. I haven’t been doing to well and I’ve been having a huge lack of motivation and initiative for the subjects and I’m halfway through my first year. So would it be safe to leave and do an apprenticeship instead?

If I were in your situation I would consider why I was failing? Is it ability or the wrong subjects?
If there are other subjects I would retake the year as up to 19 education is free and after that it costs thousands.
If you do well in level 3 that gives you options of either a higher level apprenticeship or uni.

If you cant do well then consider doing a level 3 that is not academic but more vocational so you learn a trade or skill. That will make you more employable.

If you absolutely cant abide education then by all means look for an apprenticeship at the same time. Be warned some of them arent great and with fewer qualifications, then you may have fewer options.

Theres still time to turn your education around. If you look at the same time , then if you get offered a decent one it becomes an easy choice for you. Try and get one with training and some continuing education.

If you think that you will be more motivated if working towards a qualification in a work environment and find a good apprenticeship provider then definitely go for it. To be honest i think apprenticeships should be given more credit as you get more work contacts, a qualification, pay and perhaps a job at the end!
