so I’m making cookies and they won’t flatten out but they’re room temperature. Also they’re hard even though I used brown sugar!!! I still got batter left so what should I do to it to fix it!

How hot was your oven? It needs to be quite low for flat cookies.

Did you use real butter? If so, how much did you use proportionally to the other ingredients? Creaming the butter will make a cakier cookie than if you melt the butter in.

I put them on 180 oC.
I used a vegetarian butter.
The recipe is for “chewy cookies” and it said to cream them together.
This is the recipe:
1 cup salted butter* softened
1 cup white (granulated) sugar
1 cup light brown sugar packed
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp sea salt
2 cups chocolate chips (or chunks, or chopped chocolate)

I don't know much about vegetarian (vegan?) butter, so I'm not sure how that would alter the mixture. I was always taught to melt the butter in for flatter cookies, so maybe try that next time.

The proportions of the other ingredients seems right for chewy cookies (more sugar than fat). Not sure why you need baking powder in it though, as that will definitely cause a rise. If your baking soda was old then that could also cause issues.
