Accomodation at Reading

When you apply to University, a big part of that is also thinking about the accommodation on offer.

Reading Uni has a wide range of accommodation options - from self-catered to catered, shared bathroom - EnSite, on and off campus. There's something for everyone.
In my 1st year I was in catered accommodation and it was great - really sociable and made settling into Uni life really easy as I didn't have to worry about shopping or cooking.
I've lived in student housing in Reading for the past two year, and have decided to go back into halls for my next, and final year.

Therefore, I thought we could use this thread to talk about accommodation.
If you're in the process of choosing your accommodation for next year and not sure how to choose - let us know and we'll see if we can help.

Additionally, if you've already chosen you're accommodation - let us know you're coming to Reading and maybe get to know others who will be here too.

Hi

I have not been able to visit Reading so would just like to know which accommodation is most suitable for myself who is going to be studying at the business school (preferably non-catered).

Thanks

Hello,
I'll be starting my masters at Reading uni in September. Just looking for advice on which accommodation to pick for postgraduate students? I am looking at student housing as well; popular areas for students to live?

Thanks
Hi,

The Business School is located centrally amongst Whitesknights Campus, so therefore any accommodation you opt for will be close to your studies.

If you are looking at non-catered, the park group of accommodation blocks (Including Stenton, Child's and Mackinder) are excellent, as they are less than a five minute walk to the Henley business school. As well as being en-suite, self-catered and very modern.

Also, on the alternative side of campus, you would find other blocks (including Bridges and Wessex), which again are non-catered, however are shared bathroom, so are cheaper in price. These again, are about a 5-10 minute walk to the business school.

A lot of other accommodation blocks cater for non-catered if this would be your preference and like I said previous, no halls are too far away to walk to the business school.

There is a lot of information on the Reading website about accommodation, but if you have any other questions feel free!

Hi,

That's excellent you have chosen Reading for your masters!

There are a lot of accommodation blocks to choose from in Reading, and a lot are great for Postgraduates. I wouldn't say there is a particular hall that focuses on Post Grads, however I am aware certain blocks amongst the halls have specific allocations for masters students, which hopefully will mean everyone is more comfortable.

So, therefore whatever halls you pick, you can specialise if you would like to be ideally put with other masters students. All accommodation blocks are relatively close together and most are situated on the centre on campus, so therefore many would suit needs for master students.

In terms on living off campus, there are popular student areas situated around campus, which are about a 10 minute walk to University and a 10 minute walk to town. Student Housing support is excellent in Reading, so therefore if you have any concerns they will be able to help.

A lot of information about living can be found on the Reading website and specifically on the accommodation section.
