I currently go to a grammar school but I want to leave the grammar school as there are restrictions to do certain subjects in case if I do a exam, and don't do as expected for one test, they might force me to change subjects, which i don't want to do so i went to a mixed school which seems better for me to go to mixed school as it helps students of all ranges. The desire is to go Cambridge but the grammar school have so many opputunites such as Head Girl, but also the mixed school also have specialist which work with universities such as Imperial. My question is, should you think I should move from a grammar school to normal school or stay in the school that I'm currently in?

I really need advice, especially those who have left grammar/state school to normal school but go to top unis

I would really appreciate this.

they both sound like good options with their links to unis... which one did you like the atmosphere of the most, despite what people on here say there is a gut feeling and it isn't all about their results. I have never seen a school that doesn't have head girl, the mixed school probably does have it but they dont talk about it as much. the only thing that concerns me about your post is being worried about doing bad in a test and then being asked to move subjects, if you've done well enough to get into that school and try your best, listen in class and study bits at home then you've done all you can.

What do want to read at Cambridge? Not sure how qualified I am to comment as I moved from comprehensive to private school and this was in 1979. The state school sounds good as well. There were no grammar schools at all on my area, but I would have loved the chance to have attended one. However the school system has moved on since my day. Ask the state school what their Cambridge acceptance rate is. However there are plenty of other good unis you can choose from as well as Cambridge. It’s best to choose a uni by suitability of course, rather than if a university has a prestigious reputation
