Can a wisdom tooth replace a molar?

Ok so about a year ago I had an issue with my very back molar and ended up getting it extracted. Then about 7 ish months after I saw the beginnings of a tooth apearing. I just though it was a wisdom tooth or something. Went to the dentist for my regular check up and she didnt say anything about it. So now, the tooth has fully emerged and it just looks like a normal molar. I went to the dentists again yesterday and she said nothing was wrong with my teeth. But now im really curious because I know that a lot of people get their wisdom teeth removed. Can a wisdom tooth replace a molar or do I just have an extra molar or something lol.
