According to the University of Bristol requirements for postgraduate teacher training (which requires GCSE English & Maths above a C grade):
Italian Diploma di Esame di Stato/Diploma di Maturità
(Classica/Scientifica/Linguistica)
• English - Pass when studied for 5 years

• Maths - Pass when studied for 5 years
https://www.bristol.ac.uk/media-libr...20Feb%2018.pdf

The University of Ulster says (for maths):
Students must also provide evidence that they satisfy the requirements for Maths (i.e. equivalent to a Grade C in GCSE. For students presenting Italian qualifications, they must have achieved an overall average of 7 (or 70) in Maths as part of the Diploma de Esame. (8 if wishing to study BSc Hons Accounting with Finance).
https://qa.ulster.ac.uk/wp-content/u...uivalences.pdf

University of Leeds Business School says:
For degrees requiring AAA at A-level:

The Diploma Esame di Stato from Liceo is acceptable for entry onto our degree programmes. An overall grade of 90% is required, plus a minimum of 80% in Maths (70% in Maths for programmes requiring GCSE Grade B/5) as an average grade taken from the final three years of High School.

A separate English Language qualification is required.

Please note vocational/professional diplomas are not acceptable for entry to our degree programmes.

For degrees requiring AAB at A-level:

The Diploma Esame di Stato from Liceo is acceptable for entry onto our degree programmes. An overall grade of 85% is required, plus a minimum of 70% in Maths as an average grade taken from the final three years of High School.

A separate English Language qualification is required.

Please note vocational/professional diplomas are not acceptable for entry to our degree programmes.

Additional requirements:

BSc Business Analytics: 85% in Mathematics in the Diploma Esame di Stato.

Unfortunately, universities can use their discretion when deciding what international qualifications they will accept as equivalent. And regardless of prior achievement, as an international student you may still be asked to sit an English exam as indicated at the university of Leeds (e.g. IELTS, Cambridge CAE).

So if you already have achieved your Diploma di Stato, it's probably best to contact individual universities you are interested in. If you didn't officially graduate/receive your Diploma from Italy, then taking the two GCSEs and an Access Course is probably the best/quickest option.

I hope that's at least a little helpful!

Hi! Can I ask you what did you do at the end? I have the same problem - I completed 4 years of Liceo Scientifico in Italy and then moved to the UK. Will a access to higher education diploma will be enough to get into uni? I know that the Italian equivalent for GCSE should be the 1st and 2nd years of High School. Am I wrong? Thank you!!
