Hello, I'm doing GCSE Edexcel English Literature and studying Romeo & Juliet. I was just wondering how many quotes would we have to learn if you're aiming for a 7 or above? about 20 in total for Romeo & Juliet alone? Would anyone recommend learning about 3-4 quotes per character and then 2 quotes per theme?

I can't remember how many quotes I learnt for the exam and I don't think I really counted. As many as possible? 3-4 quotes per character and 2 quotes per theme in my opinion sounds a little on the thin side. Of course, you'll be able to use the quotes from the extract so maybe you don't have to learn as many. I would probably say minimum 5 for per character (maybe not as many for less important characters) and 5 per theme.
Overall, I would learn more quotes for theme because they can also link into character as well.
Good luck on your exams!
