Do not wear a suit. Just wear something that's not scruffy, and wash before you go.

Quite a few people have said that. Why not wear a suit?

In my experience most people don't dress too formally for University interviews. Even at my Cambridge interview I didn't see anyone in a suit, just smart clothes, though you probably wouldn't have looked too out of place if you chose to wear one. At all the other interviews I went to, at most a couple of people turned up in suits and they looked a little odd compared to the rest of us! I don't know how formal the UCL interviews will be though.

You'll look like an overdressed fool. You won't want to wear a suit because the interviewers, working at a university, will be unlikely to do so themselves.
They deal with scruffy, smelly students every day. Anything better than that is acceptable, without looking like a ponce.

A suit might be more appropriate, say, for medicine or Law but a slightly 'preppy' / east-coast style would be fine for virtually anything. It depends what you are comfortable in, to be honest. If you are used to wearing a suit, then wear one, but not perhaps with a tie (unless its Law or medicine!). Don't down-dress (ie skateboarder 'baggies' or ripped jeans) at all costs. A pair of chinos or neat casual trousers (not denim), a shirt and jumper (stylish, of course!) with shoes rather than trainers would be fine for almost any interview.

don't wear a suit.
at the very most wear some black trousers and a shirt,

Some people do where suits but you'll look a bit silly.

I wore a suit to my first interview and i felt like a dick.

Is it a combined interview and open day? If so very few people wear a suit in my experience.
i'd agree with the people saying not to wear a suit, looks like you're compensating for something by overdressing imo

Any advice on what to wear?? Shall I wear a suit??

i wore black trousers and a blouse to my ucl interview, and that was about hte smartest there was - all my friends who had them seemed to be very laid back too. so i wouldn't wear a suit!

At my interviews everyone was in suits. They are what you ware to interviews.

are jeans a total no-no. because i was thinking about wearing a blazer (girly one) a t-shirt or shirt underneath and then either jeans or pinstripe trousers.

Well, mine was a Chemistry interview at UCL but I didn't wear a suit and just dressed casually with jeans and a top. I think nearly everyone dressed normally there as well. The only subjects I think you would really need to wear a suit to impress is with Medicine and Law interviews.

i'd wear pinstripe trousers, make it look like you've thought about it and made an effort.

As much as anything, dressing smartly and looking good makes you feel more confident and you'll come over better in the interview. So make sure you feel comfortable.

depends what the interview is for and where. I saw noone in suits at any university interviews i went to - job interviews however, it's suits all the way (or at least that level of smartness.)

something comfortable - you want to concentrate on your interview not how itchy your outfit is.

shoes you can walk in - you don't want to trip up.
