Is the selling fee considered part of “Cost of Sales”?

In accounting, is the selling fee part of the cost of sales? (Income Statement)

So for example, if I had to pay 10% selling fee once my item was sold. Would this count as part of Cost of Sales or would it be part of the Operating expenses?

Also, does it matter what layout we do financial statements in our exams?

I am doing it by the book and have learnt from the book because it’s easier than my lectures. But my lecturer does the layout in a different way.

Surely she can’t mark me down for doing it by the book?

I would try to ask her but she’s terrible at replying to emails, and I don’t see her for a while now.
