Anyone successfully rent with a pet in Derry?

I'm an international student looking at apartments - have accepted a fully funded 3 year studentship for my PhD so no issues with money.

I have a small cat and I'm moving over from Canada. Unfortunately due to extreme circumstances I have no family that can take him.

I'm seeing a lot of listings in Belfast that allow pets, but very few in Derry proper.
I've never been to Derry but in the Uk it depends on the landlord/lady/estate agents and the renting contract you have with them. Some allow pets, some don't. If you don't manage to find anywhere that does then ask them, they may let you keep the cat. I know someone who lived in a rented house who wasn't allowed to keep pets but then a kitten turned up to her house and wouldn't leave and wanted to keep it anyway. They asked the landlord if they could keep it and he agreed so it's possible.
