I don't really get how to pronounce "ils regardent" etc because it seems weird not pronouncing the ent so how do u read it and also how do u say it without getting confused with other ones because could it not sound the same as "il regarde". Also what is the general rule with pronouncing each letter?

You don't pronounce the -ent. It's just said, 'il regard': I know it sounds confusing and how would the french know what you mean etc but if you think about it we have loads of homophones e.g. right has two meanings, or saying were or we're. :yep:

Don't pronounce the ending letter unless the word ends in an S and the following word begins with a vowel. This is called a liason - it links the two words together to make it sound more fluent. Also don't pronounce h's - they are silent in French.
