Does anyone know how math based the biochem degree at Royal Holloway is? and if there's any additional support for people who maybe aren't so good at math?

Hi there,

The math done in you first year is similar to math you may have done or be doing at A level. The main focuses are around calculating concentration, moles and volume. We do offer additional support with our Centre for the Development of Academic Skills (CeDaS) and the School of Biological Sciences organises extra math sessions. You are of course also more than welcome to speak to your lecturers and professors if you need any additional support.

All undergraduate students are eligible to take a year out for placements, studying and volunteering. You'll largely need to find the placement yourself, but the department and our Careers and Employability Services are there to support you in this. Both will also be on hand to support you with shorter placements.

If you have any other questions about studying BSc Medical Biochemistry, you can chat to current student, Tobi, who would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have. You can send her a message here.
