Im an English persone and I live in Spain. I'm in a class in highschool and everyone allways makes fun of my accent when I speak in Spanish and whisper every time I walk past someone I also love animals and get really sad when someone mentions animal abuse etc so most people allways laugh about killing animals when I'm near them and I'm allways alone when we have to go in groups for a project. What should I do?

Aww feeling sorry for you! People can be really mean but do not worry try to make friends with people of similar interest. I am not sure the whole class doesn't hate you, maybe theres a school club you can join to meet other people? I think they just find it different that you speak spanish in a different way that they do but they should not then result in being mean towards you. Maybe tell a teacher that you feel alone and bullied then he or she can try to put a stop to their mean behaviour. Stay strong, try not to feel upset. A lot of people experience name calling, gossiping or bullying in high school. It shouldn't happen at all but it helps you to become more strong minded and resilient in your character

Hey! A Spanish peep here! I'm really sorry you're experiencing this. It is true that some people find it amusing when someone speaks with an accent (sometimes even an accent inside the Spanish region, like Andalusian or Gallego -from the north-west -. The only thing I would say to keep in mind is that even though it may be hard, you don't have to be ashamed or anything, YOU are the one who speaks more than one language, especially in Spain, where English is not something that schools are really good at teaching for the most part. English is not a language that is really ingrained in our culture.

I hope everything turns out alright, and do not pay attention to those who are not worth it!

(also if you need someone to talk to, I'm here for whatever you need)

I'm sure they don't hate you and if they keep acting like that don't give them a reaction they laugh at you because you're different so you laugh at them because they're all the same. If you're struggling to find a group then get to know others and socialise with them because i'm sure they don't all laugh at you although if that is the case they probably just do it to cuz everyone else does and if you're still struggling then you can turn to a teacher for help. But seriously if you were in my school then i'd literally want to be your best friend! I think it's pretty cool you're Spanish i'd love to be able to speak a bit of Spanish. Wish you the best of luck! :borat:

You just need to ignore them I had the same experience and I just spend my school time alone and I did not have any problem with that because I made friends outside of school and you spend more time outside of the school than inside the school. It becomes a big problem when you start to take all of their words and make bad thinking in your head, just focus in your study and ignore them and their view on you because they will never change.
