OFFICIAL: Summer internship thread

Hi,

Just thought id be a good idea to start a thread where veryone could post where they have applied and more impotantly if they've received offers etc...

I'll start off (these are all for summer internship analyst programmes in Investment Banking)

Deutsche Bank
UBS
Citigroup
Goldman Sachs
Morgan Stanley
JP Morgan
Lazard
HSBC
ABN Amro
Barcap
Bear Stearns
Credit Suisse
Merrill Lynch
Lehman Brothers

All submitted and under review except for UBS where I was rejected for PAris right after doing the test. I applied for UBS in London aswell. Rejected by Barcap after math test.

At least we'll know when to expect to get emails if one of you mentions it here.

Good luck to you all!

Ha! I just moved into a new flat and have spent the last week glued to my laptop, applying and doing tests! My housemates must think . . . GIMP! Although I'm off to a Jose Gonzalez concert with one of them tomorrow, which should provide some relief. I've done a LOAD of apps, all sent at the end of last week, and status is as follows:

Morgan Stanley - invite to AC (fast tracked)
Credit Suisse - probe day on trading floor in January (contact)
Nomura - under review, after tests
Bear Stearns - under review, after tests
UBS - tests passed, CV under review
Deutsche Bank - under review, after tests
Citi - under review
BNP Paribas - telephone interview
BarCap - telephone interview
Bank of America - under review
HSBC - telephone interview
Lehmans - under review
Goldmans - under review
Merrills - under review

Reason I'm doing so many apps is because I need to be 100% certain of a summer internship; I need the cash a) to go to Thailand this summer and b) as start-up capital for a small business I want to get up and running for next year at uni.

Also, will be great when I'm finished applying and can just sit back and wait for responses - it didn't take all that long; certainly no more than 30 mins per app . . . I just hate it when there are technical problems with the online forms. I applied for Equities S&T at all but Morgan Stanley where I was selected for F/I S&T, btw.

Good luck to all of you!
Good luck to all, Certainly the market conditions wont help...thats why its important to apply to everything...I remember last year, I even applied to some firms in Turkey! lol (was bored I think).

Rejected after verbal for BarCap? Do they tell you right away? I don't think I failed mine but I unwisely finished with a lot of time to spare (clearly didn't pace myself well).

They tell you straight away, i saw the correspondences on my account straight away my test then it was emailed 5 mins later.

It was so much harder compared to the Credit Suisse verbal which was incredibly easy.
Just got back and checked my e-mails:

BNP Paribas phone interview
HSBC invite to tests
Deutsche Bank invite to tests

Very impressed at how quick BNP is - only applied yesterday.

Applied to HSBC and Deutsche about a week ago. Looks like things are starting to move along. Will probably just finish off my apps to GS and ML and not bother applying to the others just yet. Anyone had a BNP telephone interview yet?

GS usually start 1st round interviews in the first few weeks of January.
BarCap telephone interview - applied about a week ago. Anyone had one yet? Guess it'll be with HR so mostly competency-based
My Barcap interview was with someone from HR, quite a wide range of questions. They got back to me within a week and invited me to the AC (IBD). I've been impressed with their whole recruitment process, ultra quick responses/offers, nice hotel, nice people.

Hi,

I did both the tests for UBS, but how do you know if you've passed them or not, did them both about a week ago HR Status is "Application review" though I haven't had to upload a CV or anything yet.

Also I haven't been asked to do tests yet for Bear Stears, still says application under review, though I applied for fixed income S&T so maybe different.
Spoke to HR at UBS - they told me. To be honest, cannot remember if I did tests with BS - may well be that I didn't - sorry.

If anyone's interested in BarCap; just had my telephone interview with HR in BarCap and will be attending AC next Tues/Weds. Very nice experience overall - probably the most efficient recruiting process in which I'vebeen involved.

Have you heard back about the result of the telephone interview yet?

If not, I might be a bit wary of giving out questions and the answers you gave on a widely viewed forum, especially if they have enough info to work out who you are.
Yes - AC next Weds. Perhaps you're right. I'll remove my comment and re-post it and the questions asked after I find out if I'm in or not. I think it might be helpful to other applicants. If anyone wants more information, other people listed the questions asked on the i b t a l k . c o m forums.

Hi everyone, I've applied to the following, mostly for FI sales and trading, maybe thinking about a couple of tech apps since im a compsci and its supposedly easier to get into

Bear Stearns - Under consideration
UBS - Did numerical and logic tests - Under consideration
BofA - Under consideration
Nomura - Did test - Under consideration
Merill Lynch - Passed test haven't finished app yet
JP Morgan - Nearly finished
Lehmann Bros - Nearly finished as well
Goldman - Gotta find time to write a cover letter
DB - Not sure if I can be bothered with their open questions

Was pleasantly surprised with BNP Paribas' application form, no open questions whatsoever, straight to the point. Started today, finished today and did both of the tests today. That ones under review as well.

Good luck everyone!
Any other news guys ? Just added Dresdner Kleinwort and BNP Paribas to my list all under review!
invited to citi online test today
