In DNA replication, DNA helicase catalyses the unwinding and separating of the polynucleotide stands.
Does DNA helicase do the same thing in transcription?

I do not believe that DNA helicase is involved in transcription. I think the general transcription factors which bind to the DNA (allowing RNA polymerase to bind) have helicase activity and unwind the two strands of DNA.

Basically, in transcription, RNA polymerase is used in replacement of both DNA helicase and DNA polymerase
