How did everyone find further stats today? I thought it was ok, but I couldn't do the exponential distribution 3 marker.

I got 0.6 something getting the parameter 0.1, parameter=2 from previous question

On the same question, where you had to get the mean I've got 12

i got parameter 2 as well but it was right at the end and i checked it real quick and uno the probability was meant to be 4 times.more likely, well it didnt check out so idk what that was asking for

Exponential: mean=1/lambda
U had to the use lambda that you got for the exponential cdf. Is that what you did?

Since the question was talking about probabilities when X=3 and X=4, I used the Poisson formula to find lambda

Sorry if i didnt make it clear that I'm referring to the part b) of the question, not the last part with the exponential

I can’t remember the numbers anymore, but I set up the equation for the one that was smaller making it equal to p. And then the other one I think I made it equal to 3p whatever the number was, then I multiplied through the factorials and got two simultaneous equations and solved It by cancelling out e^-lamda. Then I had x^4/ x^2 so x^2 was equal to 4 I think. Therefore x was 2

Tbh that does look right. I seem to think x=2 not x=3 so maybe I’m just forgetting the numbers

I wouldn't be surprised if I read the question wrong. In any case, good luck on the mechanics paper (and the physics tomorrow if you're doing physics).

I thought it said p(X=2) not 3 like you've done because in our FM class there are only 4 of us and we all got lambda =2 . But maybe I'm mistaken
