2019 GCSE AQA BIOLOGY unofficial mark scheme

I've collected all the answers everyone else seems to be getting. different answers to the same question are separated by dashes

what is the function of the nucleus
controls activities of the cell

the magnification Q
X400

estimated number of people who will get malaria in 2017
90

rate of water loss
10 (rounded from 10.4) / 21 (rounded from 20.8)

next step after drug testing
test on human volunteers

why the fish is good to study for human regeneration whatever
human cells share similar subcellular structures

test for glucose
benedict, blue to green/yellow/brick red

give 2 methods on how to improve the validity of the experiment
use a gas syringe instead of measuring cylinder
use a boiling tube instead of a funnel

why a faulty valve causes difficulties in the exercise
blood flows in both directions
so unequal amount of blood enters the lungs
less oxygen to diffuse across the alveoli
so less energy released

placebo explanation
to prevent bias

the double trial explanation
so the doctors and patients aren't subconsciously influenced by the drug

the chemical that makes glucose
????? such a simple question but I didn't get the answer

cells that divide when new gill is formed
stem cells??

why the 2 plants had different water rate
lack of chloroplast cuz it couldnt be the other 3 limiting factors since they were put together / different amount of stomata on each plant

Good luck. I got 9-9 in science in mocks. I'm pretty confident tomorrow because, I've revised as much as I can & done as many papers as I can do. You'll be fine & I think the enzyme practical will come up. The one with the starch, amylase pH 5 buffer solution
Idk how to feel to ba honest I finished the content but I feel like Im missing something idk what to do

I'm so nervous tomorrow! I'm using the targeted 8-9 targeted questions praying that a question comes up that is worded similarly. I also think the microscopy practical might come up because it didn't come up last year
good luck to everyone

Are you planning on coming back and filling in the answers tomorrow? If not I can help you rename the title for you

Good luck tomorrow, I'm sure you are going to smash it!

I'm hoping the paper won't turn out too badly.
I revised in april, but going over the spec once again. Rushing through free science lessons and physics and math tutor. Aiming for a 9
what the heck was that AXOLITI WHATEVER FISH question?
God it was awful!! I said something about how diffusion goes from a high to low conc so if the I oxygen levels r low then it will be getting the oxygen out then out and how water would go in through the partially permeable membrane as it’s low to high so the fish will drown as if csnr hodl the water and the oxygen would have gone so it will die.
It’s completpey wrong but worth the effort
what did everyone else get?
Tbh Idk what valves r.
But I jsur pit is there is no valve then the blood can’t flow between the ventricle and atrium so co2 and o2 can’t flow when exercising causing fatigue and exhaustion due to less respiration

omg i read the question wrong. i thought the water had the low oxgyen concentration which means i wrote the complete opposite as you

Have you shared these here: AQA Triple Science GCSE Biology ?

If it is the same exam, I could edit the OP with these answers in if everyone is happy with them!
Who knows I was prob wrong I had to read it a couple of times so. But logically I thought it was jsur drown cos osmosis then the diffusion I know it’s opisite the gradient
Is there one for double/combined science?
i forgot to simplify on the exchange surfaces question!! ffs
**** me and then kill me please I can't look at the result

i got different to the Benedict test
i got goes green or yellow or red or brick red dependent on the concentration of glucose
