I once read a commentary and analysis of a previous Euro Election and part of it subdivided the voting statistics into the new kids on the block and the old guard.

The new kids on the block were parties that were created this side of 1945, with new ideas or in response to post war developments, and included UKIP, Green Party, English Democrats, and BNP.

The old guard were parties that existed before 1945, along with traditional and conventional socialist parties as their ideology is 19th century, and included Labour, Conservative, Lib-Dem, Liberal Party, and some far left parties.

Do you see yourself as a new kid or part of the old guard?
