Passage 1

1. Two months ago

2. The courses are easy to follow. The teachers are always ready to help us.

3. She has exams at the end of the year. She has a 3000 word essay.

4. They spoke too quickly. They often used too much slang. He didn’t understand the other pupils.

5. He now participates in conversations and his French has improved enormously.

Passage 2

1. The end of July

2. Something for all tastes

6. It’s impossible to get lost

Passage 3

1. The school organise work experience placements and the careers person speaks to every pupil.

2. Students should do their own research to see what professions they are interested in.

3. They can meet several employers at the fairs.

4. Pupils can ask questions about their jobs. They can tell the pupils the positive aspects of their job and the necessary skills need to do the job.

5. To become a pilot one must be good at maths


Listening Item 1

1a. 300km

1b. More than 100 beaches, sunny almost everyday

1c. Mountains in the north and south, very dense tropical forest, many small rivers, most businesses and houses are in the capital.

1d. Local products, sweets

1e. It’s a great destination for everyone

Item 2

2a. Beside the sea

2b. Grandmother

2c. 0800-1430

2di. Specialty of Martinique, served with rice

2dii. Tropical fruits such as bananas or coconuts

2ei. Horse riding, mountain biking

2eii. A night of music in the capital

2f. Dance in the streets, sing traditional songs, dress up in costumes, party

This is by no means all correct however it is the answers collated from the thread. If anyone has anything to add please let me know and I can edit it.

For question 2, did it not ask the reasons why some people should do their own research?
Which would have been:
- if they do not know what they want to do in the future
- if they are considering several different professions


And for 2eii, it was specifically folk music, but I don’t whether or not you’d have to say that to get the mark.
