I am looking for a potential university course that will help me make industry connections and successfully start working as a full-time touring and recording electric guitarist. I play blues/soul/gospel/funk/americana; I have recently looked at Leeds College of Music and LIPA, are these good options?

Hi ZDendle,

If you're looking to launch a professional career in the music industry through a practical, industry-focused degree course that covers all musical genres; could I introduce you to Echo Factory?

Built and run by music industry professionals, our degree courses are tailored to each individual student's career ambitions so that we can help you develop your own unique talents and portfolio of experience in whichever direction you choose.

We keep our classes deliberately small as this allows our team of experienced music industry specialists to fully focus on helping you build the commercial awareness, practical skillsets and entrepreneurial mindset to help you launch your career as part of the course. In addition to weekly one-to-one training with an electric guitar specialist, our BMus (Hons) Contemporary Music Performance degree course incorporates a lot of creative collaboration on-stage both with others on your course, those studying on our BA (Hons) Music Business degree course, and with musicians working in the wider music scene.

We don't just look at developing your musical ability in isolation however; our courses also develop your commercial awareness and understanding of how the music industry works, give you the studio/production skills across a range of DAWs, as well as the understanding and ability to develop your professional network, build your portfolio, and secure exciting employment opportunities so that you are supported in launching a successful, sustainable career in the music industry as part of your degree.

We are still accepting applications through UCAS Extra, so if you have any questions about studying at Echo Factory or pursuing a career in the music industry, you can reach us either by calling 0116 253 5657 or by emailing us at [email protected].

All the best,
Tim
