Hi so I’m revising for my RS igcse tomorrow ahaha and I’m a bit confused about Shi’ite Muslim prayer leaders. I know that imams lead prayer in a Sunni mosque but an imam in Shi’ite Islam is a descendant if Muhammad. So who leads prayer in a Shi’ite mosque?
Thanks!

I believe Imams lead prayers in both Mosques, regardless of whether it's Shi'a or Sunni. But you're right, the Imamate is also a Shi'a belief that there were 12 Imams which lead the Shi'a community after Muhammad died.

The word Imam probably means two things. The leader of a prayer as well as a respected scholar.
