You were meant to calculate how many half-lives there were (it was three half-lives because 1000000/2= 500000 then 500000/2=25000 then 25000/2=125000 so there is a total of three then you times 5700 by three which is how many years old that is
because it said its half-life was 5700. it had 1000000 radiation in it. so that means in 5700 it has emitted 500,000. The question asked how old is the tree after emitting 875,000. I did 875,000 / 500,000 and got 1.75. 1.75 x 5700 is 9975

Hope that's help
ohh right, thank you so much. That makes sense. I guess I just flopped physics after months of late nights because of physics lol.

I multiplied 5700 by 3 as well but no body got the same answer as me so I was questioning myself If i got the half life question right. Everybody in my class got 44000 or like 19000 or something
