What is this thread about?
This is a vote in the Model House of Commons (MHoC). This item has already been debated in the House, and is now being voted on by MPs. If you're not an MP, please do not vote or comment here, even if you are able to do so!

What is the MHoC?
It's a political role-playing game where we pretend to be the House of Commons, and it's been going since 2005. We have formed parties, we have elections twice a year, and we debate bills and motions just like the real-life parliament. If you want to know more about how the MHoC works, your first port of call is the user manual. If you'd like to get involved and possibly join a party, you want the welcome thread.

VM543 – Ban LGBT Pride Motion 2019, Mr T 999 MP
The LGBT community have gotten what they wanted with gay marriages being legal, equal rights and homosexuality widely accepted in the UK. There is no longer any need for Pride and it's events, thus, it should be banned from the UK.

Why do I get the feeling a lot of votes will be removed in this?

Nay.

No words can eloquently describe my disappointment with this legislation, and I’d rather my vote not be removed, so I’ll just refrain from further comment.

Nay, let us not undue the hard work that has been put into preserving our civil liberties.

PS, if you're going to report anyone don't make it the Speaker as he is not to blame for the submission of this motion.

Why are you wasting our time with a joke motion? It should have been rejected in the first place. I refuse to vote.

Is there a way of stopping non MPs from voting in this? It just makes the job of the speaker, and the whips harder than it needs to be.

Not any more, as far as I'm aware.

Why do we have Remembrance Sundays, when the war was already won decades ago?

Why do countries have parades for their independence, when their independence has already been achieved?

Why do we celebrate our birthdays, when we already successfully last another year without dying?

What's the point???

Disappointing to see this motion be proposed and then accepted.

Is this something you could push with the ST (or whatever they are called). It would make life a lot easier for all involved,

There used to be but it has yet to be fixed.

Perhaps the overlords are pushing for direct democracy!

A symbolic aye to express my rejection of the clown world and disagreement with how these people present themselves and how much public money is spent on these events, though I'm not in favour of a complete ban.

Shame on those who proposed it and on those who voted aye. Greatly disappointing to see the bigotry on display, a clear demonstration of why pride is still necessary

As a Roman Catholic, I cannot, in good confidence, vote No.
