I'd imagine this task requires an appreciation of 19th century patriarchy. Heathcliff is raw, edgy, aggressive, rude, controlling and for some people, very attractive. Edgar is the polar opposite: well mannered, gentle, kind, considerate. A lot of people think he's a bit wet. He improves as the text progresses.
