University work load compared to A Levels?

TO ALL THOSE AT UNIVERSITY or FINISHED UNIVERSITY!

I always had the view that A Levels were the hardest period of your life, and the general conception that University Life was a doss..

However, recently i've noticed, after talking to people at Uni, that University life is extremely demanding, lots and lots of work..

Just wandered how hard it was compared to A Levels - Im starting to wonder if i will be able to COPE!

Do the Poll, and also
1. Post your Course Name and Uni,
2. Your A Level Subjects, and
3. how your finding it, compared to A Levels

Thanks,

Economics at Uni is several times harder than ALevel
We have just skipped the basic crap and are currently doing hard things :frown:
WARNING TO PEOPLE WITHOUT ECON A LEVEL: read some books prior to going to uni! (some people find it extremely difficult)

Maths at Cambridge.
Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Economics, Computing/Crit. Thinking ASes
Absolutely bloody solid. I have a supervision in a couple hours which I have not handed any work in for. It's not that I wasted my time on other things or didn't bother trying, i just literally couldn't do any of it. Very depressing. Makes me question my ability to remain here.

LoL.. tell me about it ... all four ppl voted Much Harder!!

What hope is there!! I was hoping if i worked hard this year, i could enjoy university!!

Isnt the first year "easier"? - because most university's dont count the first year, so as long as you pass you should be ok...

1. Medicine at Cambridge
2. Maths, Chemistry, Biology and German
3. MUCH harder - the workload is massive (though to be fair my U6th was a bit of a doss) and conceptually it's a lot harder to grasp. Practicals are nowhere near as tame and spoonfed as even the A-Level ones, and if it goes wrong you can't always just make up the results. I suppose that if you wanted an easy life though, you wouldn't go for a) Medicine or b) Cambridge, but though it's incredibly tough at times, I wouldn't be anywhere else.

Economics AT UCL
Maths, economics, chemistry and history

theres is quite a bit of work at uni - but then again u have more free time. so u can read when u want to - university stuff is harder but u r also more flexible.

The big difference is that at a-levels you have to meet a lot of school deadlines but your pretty much led through the course by your teachers where as with a degree its how much you personally put in.

Quiksilver - How are you finding the Geography? Is it very different to A-level Geography?

Why is everyone saying university is much harder than A-levels *is struggling with A-levels*? Actually, i should be ok now, i dropped my fourth A2 subject yesterday...
