Geography at Reading University

I have been doing a Geography degree at Reading university. I wanted to review my experience.
In summary, I would say my time at this university has been disappointing.

POSITIVES:

-They take in alot of students, with varying grades, regardless if you actually achieve what they ask for - having a big cohort can be great if you want to be 1 in the crowd.
-Physical geography teaching staff are really friendly - couldnt recommend their modules enough!
-Head of Department does a good job of listening, and he tries his best

NEGATIVES:

Human geography modules needs to be taught better. Alot of them have been a miss. Some lecture content only teaches again what you have learnt before in your previous studies.

Marking has been a big issue. Most lecturers rush to mark in a 15 day turn around, therefore do not give your work the attention it needs. They mark very harsh and explain poorly what the assignment was. I would avoid: Population, energy resources, environmental governance, culture, place and identity modules in yr 2. In year 3, I would avoid geographies of death and development modules - as they could be taught better.

Hope this helps newbies! So glad not to be in university anymore! wo
