I think they take too much, to be honest.

Have clothes, beddings, a towel, and some awareness of your alcoholic limits. You'll be swell.
A tin opener, corkscrew and bottle opener should see it right.

Yes - you see them disgorging the contents of a five-bedroomed house and wonder how they're proposing to get it into their tiny little student room.

Do you mean they should bring dignity or they should not?
I think a must have that I definetly will be bringing is a water filter, I cannot drink tap water, you might as well make your morning cuppa with some toilet water.

Door stop. So easy to get left behind when your bedroom door is shut. Leave your door open when your happy to socialise. Closed when your studying.

I spent first year buying water and this year I’ve been using a distiller. It is vital for living now.

Buying water on a student budget? Distilled water vital for living? I think that is just "Water is vital for living" surely?

My student budget wasn't very limited for first year fortunately.

baking tray & tin foil. if u put some foil on it save yourself the hassle of cleaning it up.

Go to wilko & buy loads of tubaware i think they do some flimsy ones 5 for £1, get these ones.

Get some coat hangers & starch spray, your never gonna do any ironing, so this will help with the wrinkles

some decent noise cancelling headphones for halls is probably a good investment

Start encouraging your fam to buy lots of booze for themselves every time they do a weekly shop, then when it will go missing when u head to Uni, bottles of vodka/rum etc are like £15-£20 a bottle its basically a weekly tax on freshers so find ways of getting it on the cheap/free

i was guilty of doing this (every year) the amount of useless crap that gets bought to uni as well.

Also OP, go to the freshers fair and try and get hold of a key fob, a year's supply of pens/stationery, a couple mugs & a wetherspoons voucher booklet. (avoid picking up 200 dominos vouchers, just more tat to through out later)
yes
