Give the formula of an organic compound that forms an alkaline buffer solution when
added to a solution of ethylamine.
................................................................

The answer is CH3CH2NH3CL. Why? Can someone explain the question and answer? Thanks

Buffers consist of either a weak acid in solution with its salt
or
a weak base in solution with its salt.

Here, the weak base is ethylamine and one salt of ethylamine is ethylaminehydrochloride

C2H5NH2 + HCl ==> C2H5NH3Cl

The salt doesn't have to be specifically a chloride. I think you could've used any acid, although using HCl is the easiest to make.
