1) Church - Galen's Theory of Opposites fitted well with the ideas of the Church who believed that God created man in His image, so they promoted Galen's teachings
2) Printing Press - led to much faster and easier sharing of medical texts
3) Societal attitudes - people had a strong belief in God and didn't want to risk going to hell by being critical of the Church's teachings so they accepted the teachings/discoveries of the Church
