I know its a repost...but feedback would be appreciated!
The extract begins with the introduction of a character; "White Fang" who "lay very quietly". This initially creates an almost intense atmosphere and negative tone. We, as the reader get an idea that he is precautious and hesitant; perhaps due to the occurrence of something mysterious. Alternatively, it emphasizes how alert and open to his surroundings the guard dog is, showing loyalty and obedience to his master.
As the extract progresses, there is a shift of focus from "White Fang" to the "strange God". This holds great significance and reinforces the assumption that the hose has been intruded. The writer has purposefully structured the text in this way; it disrupts the overwrought atmosphere allowing the reader to make conclusions about what may occur next.

The ending of the extract contrasts with the middle of it. In the middle of the extract White Fang "struck" where towards the end he gives a "weak growl". This opposition and disparity of the circumstances allow the reader to experiment with a multitude of emotions. The ending portraying "White Fang" as endangered and perhaps even dead is startling and melancholy. It mirrors the reflects the sacrifice of the dog to its masters.
(Out of 8 marks-please)

Yes, that's pretty good. It'd get 5-6. Add another paragraph of similar quality (perhaps with a focus on sentence length or the impact of punctuation) to secure level 4 (7-8)
