There has been all change at The Independent Group that changed its name to Change UK. Several members demanded change, and when they didn't get it, walked out. They are now an Alliance of Independents.

Some Remainers have decide to Leave and some Remainers have decided to Remain. So Anna Soubry, Chris Leslie, Joan Ryan, Mike Gapes and Ann Coffey are Remaining in Change to fix broken politics and Heidi Allen, Sarah Wollaston, Chuka Umunna, Luciana Berger, Gavin Shuker, and Angela Smith are changing to the Alliance of Independents where they will be concentrating on supporting Remain.

Chuka Umunna's proposal to change their name to We Ourselves was not proceeded with when proof copies of the Irish language edition of their manifesto were received.

I understand that a merger proposal to Change UK from the Judean People's Front has been rejected amid allegations of anti-semitism. Talks with the People's Front of Judea are continuing.

So ridiculous. They've split even more rapidly than I thought they would. At least when you form a new rebellion, try to make it last to the next election. They didn't even make it to the summer.

Chukka is desperately reminiscent of David Miliband and on similar levels of hopelessly unlikely to return.

In a parallel universe, this man

stepped down as Prime Minister having led the Labour Party to 3 successive general election victories from 1997.

At the same time, a bitter and twisted backbencher with a reputation for not being entirely straight stepped down to relief of the people of Sedgefield, his career, which never achieved higher office than that of PPS to the former Education Secretary, Dame Diane Abbott, having been totally eclipsed by his wife, Lady Justice Booth.

When Gould came to power with a landslide win, he angered many in his own party by summoning Lord David Owen from the wilderness and appointing him to be Foreign Secretary. This precipitated the early departure of (amongst others) John Prescott, who later become a leading figure in comic TV ads for Jaguar cars, later taken over by Daimler Benz, itself taken over by a booming Land Rover Group.

Under Gould of course, our membership of the EU intensified. We joined the Euro enthusiastically and achieved staggering rates of growth (for a while) until the great housing boom of 2003 crashed horribly in 2004 and a run on British and EU banks was only narrowly averted by Gouldian diplomacy, a crash programme of of Bank of England reflation supervised by the dynamic (and some said dodgy) Governor Michael Levy and of course the famous firesale of British assets, such as Gibralter, to the Saudis and Russia. Eventually things stabilised but it was perhaps inevitable that Gould would finally go in the 2006 general election and be replaced by the Tory leader, Rachel Johnson, who had been rapidly promoted after her brother fell to his death from a trip wire over the Thames. We finally left the Euro and returned to the Scottish Thistle (the only surviving currency after the £ was formally ended for ever in 2003 and full Scottish Independence within Europe in 2005 under President Salmond), which merged with the US dollar in 2011.

Help the Aged also felt that the proposed name would not appeal to seniors.

Has he set a record for the highest number of party switches in the shortest time frame?

No doubt he will be on the move again if the LibDems are wise enough not to give him a plumb seat. Chukka was busy praising the marvellous people of [insert constituency name here] but admitted he would be available for seat relocation in his new party. What an ethical dude.
