I'm in mid 20s, tried having sex couple times, each time the guy tried to penetrate it felt like rubbery muscle/flesh kind of like a tongue/bone was in the way. it was extremely painful even using a finger. I never use tampons but tried and even that felt weird. maybe I'm just unaware of my own body and this is normal?

I might be going to a gyno to get checked

You are probably just not relaxed enough. You need to be really relaxed and use LOTS of lube. Your vagina is essentially flesh/muscle, and you pelvic bones are there as well but there is definitely enough space for a penis to fit.
