I am just going to begin my biomedical science degree at university this September. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any books I could read over the summer? I am especially interested in pathology. 😊

A fellow biomed applicant here!
The Medical Detective by Sandra Hempel is a good historical book about the cholera outbreaks in Britain. Also, Unthinkable by Helen Thompson is really interesting if you're also interested in neuroscience (sorry I don't have anything more specific to pathology!).

2nd Biomedical Science student here

The textbooks I normally use for pathology are the Fundamentals of Biomedical Science and there’s one for each discipline (haematology, histopathology, immunology etc). They’re good and I’ve used them a lot during my degree

They are proper undergraduate textbooks tho, so not really sure if they’ll be useful to you at this time tho?

Thank you very much, I’d like to have a look at them. Do you know anywhere I could get them from as I don’t have access to the university library yet? I’ve searched my local library website but they don’t have any.

Thanks again 😊

Hmm, other than buying them on amazon I'm not actually sure. I can get a couple of the books (histopathology, biochemistry and haematology) in a PDF file (sort of anyway, each chapter is a separate file) which I can send to you if you wanted?
