what's it like in the LDS/Mormon church?

are they a cult? Are they dangerous? Do they teach anything different to other churches?

Yeah they differ from other Christian churches, wikipedia is your friend here.

I wouldn't say they were particularly dangerous... they don't do typical dangerous cult things like trying to poison non-members

The ones you meet seem very decent and nice... doesn't mean they're not a cult - though I suppose that'll depend on who's defining the word cult.

you do hear tell of immense psychological pressure being put on people who try to leave, so they might not be entirely lovely either.
